String Beans w/Smoked Turkey Wings

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds fresh green beans, tips removed*

  • 3 ½ quarts chicken broth (low sodium)

  • 1 large smoked turkey wing

  • 1 tablespoon Tony's Creole seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

*SUBSTITUTION:

8-14oz cans of Whole Green Beans, drained

Directions

  1. Rinse the green beans to remove any dirt.

  2. Pour water and salt into a large pot; bring to a boil. Pour green beans into the boiling water; cook 30 minutes.

  3. Drain beans in colander and soak in cold water to stop cooking process; set aside.

  4. Pour chicken broth in a crock-pot; add turkey wing and creole seasoning. 

  5. Add the green beans; set the timer for 8 hours on high.  Let the green beans cook until done.

SUBSTITUTION: Canned Whole Green Beans:

Open cans, drain liquid and pour the green beans in crock-pot. Pour in the chicken broth and add the turkey wing and seasonings.  Set the timer for 8 hours on high.  Let the green beans cook until done.
