Goodie Bars
Ingredients
-
16 ounces light brown sugar
-
4 tablespoons granulated sugar
-
1½ stick margarine**
-
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
3 large eggs
-
2 2/3 cups sifted All-Purpose flour
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
½ teaspoon baking powder
-
6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chip morsels
-
¾ cups pecans, chopped
NOTE:
**If you like a buttery taste to the bars, simply substitute the margarine for 1 1/2 stick of unsalted butter.

Directions
-
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan. (Easy tip: use PAM to grease baking dish)
-
In small saucepan, melt margarine/butter; pour in granulated sugar and brown sugar; stir until well mixed. Remove sugar-butter mixture from stove and pour into a large bowl to cool completely.
-
Add eggs, one at a time; stir until mixed well. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract; stir until mixed thoroughly.
-
In a separate bowl, sift together the dry ingredients; pour in the flour mixture, a little at a time, and stir batter until dry ingredients are mixed well. (The batter will thicken).
-
Pour in remaining vanilla extract; stir well. Pour in pecans and morsels; stir to combine.
-
Spread batter into pan. Smooth until batter is even over the pan.
-
Bake 35-40 minutes until golden brown. Remove the pan from oven and let cool on a wire rack. Cut into squares.
