Terri's Crab Boil

Ingredients

  • 24 live blue crabs, washed thoroughly

  • 6 small Yukon gold or red potatoes

  • 12 fresh corn on cob, cut in half

  • 2 pounds medium shrimp, shells on

  • 1 bag OLD BAY crab boil mix

  • 2 tablespoons crushed red pepper

  • ¼ cup Texas Pete hot sauce

  • 6 tablespoons OLD BAY Seasoning

  • 4 tablespoons seasoning salt

  • 2 tablespoons cayenne pepper

  • 6 quarts water

  • 2 pounds beef sausages, sliced thick (Hillshire)

Directions

  1. Soak crabs and shrimps in cold water for 10 minutes to remove dirt. 

  2. Boil water in a large stockpot; add crab boil mix and boil 2 more minutes.

  3. Pour in seasonings and spices; continue boiling for 20 minutes.

  4. Add corn, sausages and potatoes; cover pot and cook 30 minutes covered. 

  5. Pour shrimp into pot; add crabs making sure the crabs are on top.  

  6. Pour old bay seasoning on top of the crabs; cover and cook for 20 minutes. 

  7. Serve on large platter.  Let cool for 15 minutes before eating.
