Walnut Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups plus 1/4 cups semi sweet mini** morsels (divided)

  • 1 stick unsalted butter           

  • 3 large eggs, slightly beaten                                  2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1-1/4 cups All-Purpose flour                               

  • 1 cups granulated sugar  

  •  2 teaspoons vanilla extract           

  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder               

  • ¼ teaspoon salt   

  • ½ cup walnuts, chopped

**If mini morsels are not used, increase the amount to 2 cups of morsels.

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a 9x9-inch pan.

  2. In small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and 1 1/2 cups of chocolate morsels; stir until smooth. Pour chocolate mixture into a large bowl to cool for 3 minutes.

  3. Pour in eggs, stir until well combined.  Add vanilla extract and stir.

  4. In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda and salt.

  5. Add flour mixture, a little at a time, into the chocolate batter; Add the remaining mini morsels.

  6. Gently fold the batter after each flour addition to prevent over mixing. (Make sure all of the flour is mixed into the batter; stir until smooth). 

  7. Pour batter into baking pan. Sprinkle with nuts.

  8. Bake 30-35 minutes until set.  Cool on wire rack; cut into 2-inch squares.
