Quick Biscuits
Ingredients

¼ cup vegetable shortening (Crisco)

2 cups self-rising flour

1 cup buttermilk
-
2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter

Optional Toppings:
Honey
Strawberry Preserves

Directions

Heat oven to 425°.

Cut shortening into flour using a pastry blender or a fork until crumbly. Add buttermilk, stirring the mixture just until moistened.

Pat dough to ½-inch thickness; cut with a 2-inch round cutter. Place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet.

Bake for 14 minutes or until golden.

Remove from oven. Brush the hot biscuits with melted butter.

Serve hot biscuits with honey or strawberry preserves.
