
Terri's Meaty Chili w/Beans
Ingredients

1 pound Ground Beef (93% lean)

1 pound spicy ground Italian sausage

1 box Carroll Shelby's Chili Kit

1 small sweet onion, chopped

8 ounces tomato sauce
-
8 ounces beef broth (low sodium)

2-14 ounce cans light red kidney beans

1 tablespoon chili powder
-
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1 tablespoon Masa Flour*

1/4 cup water
* If you prefer a soupier chili, then leave out the masa flour and water.

Directions

Cook ground beef in a skillet; add onion and cook until done; drain grease from beef mixture.

Cook Italian sausage in a separate skillet; add red pepper flakes, stir and cook until done; drain grease from sausage mixture.

Pour both meats into a large pot; Pour the dry chili mix over meat mixture. Stir to mix well.

Add remaining ingredients except kidney beans, Masa flour and 1/4 cup water; stir to combine.

Turn stove temperature on low, cover pot and cook chili for 2 hours, stirring frequently.

Add beans, stir and cover pot. Cook another 1 hour, stirring frequently. Mix Masa and 1/4 cup water tougher in small bowl; stir to mix well.

Pour flour mixture in pot and stir chili. Let simmer 15-20 minutes until chili starts to thicken.

Serve with toppings, as desired.
