
Rolled Sugar Cookies
Ingredients

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup golden sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2½ cups All-Purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder
-
¼ teaspoon salt

decorator sugar crystals

Directions

Preheat oven to 375°. Beat butter with mixer until creamy; gradually add sugar, egg and vanilla; mix well.

Combine flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to butter mixture, beating just until blended.

Shape dough into a ball, cover and chill 1 hour. Divide dough into thirds.

Work with one portion of the dough at a time, storing remaining dough in refrigerator until ready to use.

Roll dough portions to 1/8-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.

Cut with a 3” cookie cutter and place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with sugar crystals.

Bake 8 minutes or until edges of cookies are lightly browned. Cool slightly on cookie sheet, remove to wire racks to cool completely.
