
Apple Bread Pudding
Ingredients

1 loaf French bread, cubed

6 large eggs
-
4 cups whole milk

1 teaspoon ground nutmeg, divided

2 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract

4 cups granulated sugar

4 small Granny Smith apples, cored, peeled & diced

2 cups golden raisins
-
4 tablespoons butter, chopped
Optional Toppings:
Vanilla Ice Cream
Powdered Sugar

Directions

Preheat oven to 375°. Place bread in a large buttered baking pan; set aside.

Beat eggs and milk together; add ½ teaspoon nutmeg, vanilla extract and sugar; mix well and set aside.

Stir apples and raisins together in a small bowl.

Using a large spoon, place the apple mixture between bread cubes, being careful to push them deep down.

Pour egg mixture over bread cubes. (The pan will be filled but it will cook down in the oven).

Place butter and remaining nutmeg on top of bread pudding.

bake 40-60 minutes; remove from oven and let stand for 15-20 minutes before cutting.

Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
