Baked Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • 15 ounces refrigerated pie crust (2)

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed

  • 2 tablespoons All-Purpose flour

  • ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

  • 6 cups granny smith apples, sliced, cored & peeled

  • 2 tablespoons sugar crystals, optional 

Directions

  1. Prepare the piecrust as directed on package for two pie-crust using 9-inch pan.

  2.  Heat oven to 425°. In a large bowl, combine all filling ingredients except lemon juice and apples; mix well. 

  3. Add lemon juice and apples; toss gently to mix; spoon into a crust lined pan. 

  4. Top with second crust; seal edges and flute.  Cut slits or shapes in several places in top crust.  Sprinkle sugar crystals on top of pie.

  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown.  Let cool on wire rack.
